| 【Dosage and Administration】 | The recommended starting dose for olanzapine is 10 mg (2 tablets) per day without regard to meals, because the absorption is not affected by meals. The daily dose range of olanzapine is 5 mg (1 tablet) to 20 mg (4 tablets). The daily dose should be adjusted according to the clinical condition. An increase to a dose greater than 10 mg/day (2 tablets) is recommended only after clinical assessment. If permitted by clinical conditions, the starting dose of elderly patients is 5 mg (1 tablet) per day. In patients with severe renal impairment or moderate hepatic dysfunction, the starting dose is also 5 mg (1 tablet) per day. If there are a number of factors that can slow the metabolism of olanzapine (female, elderly, non-smokers), the lower starting dose is recommended. Olanzapine has not yet been studied in people under age 18. |
